On July 24, after a public hearing, commissioners approved a conditional‑use permit allowing applicant James Shulterbrondt to place a manufactured home on a 1.35‑acre R‑1 lot at 131 Pine Hill Rd, subject to required septic/perk approvals. At the July 2 meeting a separate CUP for 110 Stagecoach Dr. was moved, seconded and tabled until the Aug. 6 meeting because of pending litigation; the minutes note one abstention on that motion but do not specify which commissioner abstained.
Work session items and follow‑ups: County Manager Thomas Weaver reported department updates and road repairs; commissioners discussed reappointments to the Industrial Development Authority (Walter Miller and Lou Beck), a pending 4‑H funding request (follow‑up requested), and outreach to Congressman Sanford Bishop’s office about safety improvements at an intersection on Hwy 520. Chairman Charles Coffey cautioned against early fiscal‑year overspending and urged department heads to submit outstanding invoices before the new budget.
