"So our math mission statement at PVPUSD is to empower students to problem solve, innovate, and communicate mathematically," Wilde said, framing the district's approach to acceleration as one option within a broader commitment to mathematical understanding and critical thinking.
Slattery said the district offers two main acceleration routes. The first is a summer bridge self-study that can produce one year of acceleration; the second is "acceleration by demonstration," where a student demonstrates mastery to skip an entire course.
