Sheboygan County Finance Committee approves pay adjustment, depository list and In Rem No. 52; officials preview 2027 budget work

The Sheboygan County Finance Committee on April 8 approved several routine financial items and heard updates as officials began preliminary work on the 2027 budget.
County Administrator Alayne Krause reported year-to-date sales tax revenue and Rocky Knoll’s March census and said preliminary work on the 2027 budget is underway, with estimates to be presented at the committee’s May meeting. Krause also noted that recently signed state legislation will improve the county’s financial outlook by providing additional funding for the Clerk of Courts and utility aid.
Finance Director Webb told the committee staff are updating key assumptions and reviewing budget entry processes in the county’s Tyler Munis system, and that finance-related personnel support is being adjusted across departments to maintain consistency around levy limits. Webb said the county received the 2024 Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association and that the 2025 audit will begin in May. He also confirmed a successful bond sale that will help offset future debt service costs.
On formal actions, Treasurer Laura Henning-Lorenz presented the Final List for In Rem No. 52 and the committee approved the list. The committee also approved the county’s Listing of Depositories. Deputy Finance Director Jeremy Fetterer presented a Temporary Pay Adjustment Request, which the committee approved. Vouchers were reviewed and the committee approved expenditures. There were no requests for approval of attendance at other meetings or functions.
