Beardstown City Council names temporary chair, adopts property-disposal ordinance and OKs copier lease

Beardstown — At a brief March 4, 2025 meeting at Beardstown City Hall, the Beardstown City Council appointed Alderperson Mary Davis as temporary chair in Mayor Tim Harris’s absence and approved two unanimous roll-call actions: an ordinance authorizing disposal of municipally owned personal property and a lease-and-maintenance agreement for a City Hall copier.
Alderperson Chris Baer moved that "Mary Davis be named Temporary Chair in the absence of Mayor Harris," and Alderperson Keith Schramm seconded; the motion passed unanimously by voice vote. The council recorded no public comments during the public-comment period.
The council then approved minutes from its Feb. 24, 2025 meeting and adopted the omnibus consent agenda. The council received departmental reports: the Water Superintendent's report listed 13,316,239 gallons pumped in February 2025 and 151,996,201 gallons for the May 1–April 30 reporting period; the Police Chief's report cited a 12‑month total of 5,907 calls answered, 56 criminal arrests and 252 traffic arrests; the Fire Chief's January 2025 report showed city and rural incident totals and noted one structure fire for the period.
Alderperson Lisa Buhlig moved, and Alderperson Eric Harbin seconded, "That an Ordinance Authorizing the Disposal of Municipally Owned Personal Property be adopted." The ordinance passed 7–0 by roll call vote. The minutes list the Yeas as Baer, Buhlig, Davis, Harbin, Schramm, Seward and Taylor; Alderperson Ron Culves was recorded absent.
The council also approved a lease and maintenance agreement with CDS Office Technologies for a Konica Minolta Bizhub C301i copier to be located at City Hall. Alderperson Chris Baer moved the measure and Alderperson Lisa Buhlig seconded; the motion passed 7–0 by roll call vote.
With no further business, the council adjourned at 6:11 p.m. The meeting minutes were submitted by City Clerk Brian Ruch.
