Maywood board clears three police department purchases including trade for AR-15 rifles

At the Jan. 21 meeting the Village of Maywood Board of Trustees approved three police department items on a divided segment of new business.
Trustee M. Lightford moved and Trustee A. Sanchez seconded approval to outfit Patrol Unit #108 with equipment from Public Safety Direct, Inc. at a cost of $8,413.82; the motion passed unanimously.
The board also approved a police request to trade unused ammunition and outdated weapons to obtain five AR-15 rifles. Kiesler Police Supply, Inc. offered a trade credit of $7,091.50 against the department's outdated inventory; the total listed cost to acquire five AR-15 rifles was $7,151.65. The minutes record the trade and purchase as approved.
Police Chief Valdimir Talley Jr. (recorded in the minutes as Chief Val Talley) said investigative efforts under the existing contract had reached a $5,000 authorization cap and requested continuation. LWM Research quoted $4,985.10 to continue the investigative research; trustees amended the request and approved continuing funding at $5,000 until the next update, per the minutes.
All three items were recorded as approved at the meeting with votes recorded in the minutes. Trustees raised no recorded objections during the motions as recorded in the meeting minutes.
