The Midway City Council voted April 7 to approve the first TAP (tourism, arts & parks) tax award cycle as presented.
Camille reviewed the process and said the city received 11 applications (10 considered in this cycle). She recommended allocating $100,452 from available TAP funds—approximately 65% targeted to arts projects and 30% for trails—drawn from funds collected in the July–December 2025 period. Camille said the panel reduced certain rental-cost requests so more applications could be funded fully, and one application remains outstanding pending an interlocal agreement.
Council discussed committee participation in the review process and asked for rotating council representation on future review panels; Camille and the mayor agreed to schedule two rotating council members per cycle going forward. Council also asked about a specific award to Midway Boosters for a stained-glass arts project; Camille explained the boosters had previously applied and required an additional small funding supplement to complete the purchase of glass.
Councilmember (speaker 3) moved to approve the TAP awards as recommended; speaker 4 seconded. The mayor called the roll by individual names; recorded responses included JC, Lisa, Kevin, Andrew and Andy voting Aye. The motion carried and councilmembers congratulated staff on managing the program and expanding community events with TAP funds.
The awards will be distributed per the recommended allocations and the outstanding interlocal-dependent application will be resolved in the coming month.
