City staff told the Adelanto Planning Commission and Parks and Recreation Commission on Nov. 20, 2024, that a new park has opened to the public, the city will close for the Thanksgiving holiday, and the Dec. 4 planning meeting is canceled while city staff await CEQA reports.
Naika said the new park opened about two weeks earlier and that another park project remains underway. She announced city offices will be closed the Wednesday and Thursday of the Thanksgiving holiday and asked commissioners to have a "happy and safe Thanksgiving." Naika said the Dec. 4 Planning Commission meeting would be canceled because staff are waiting on CEQA reports; she said the next Planning Commission meeting is scheduled for Dec. 18 and that she would circulate the agenda and memo for that meeting as well as the commission's 2025 schedule.
The meeting also included a brief farewell to Terry, with commissioners and attendees offering thanks for his service and discussing a Dec. 11 swearing-in date for incoming or returning members (Naika said she would confirm the swearing-in date). The meeting closed after a motion to adjourn was approved by voice vote.
What happens next: staff will confirm the Dec. 11 swearing-in details and will circulate the Dec. 18 agenda and CEQA materials in advance of the next meeting.
