Hillsborough board affirms HIB determinations, approves education, HR, operations and policy items; one member votes no on travel to Waco

The Hillsborough Township Board of Education voted on a package of agenda items at its Sept. 9 meeting, affirming the superintendent’s harassment, intimidation and bullying (HIB) determinations and approving education, human-resources, operations and policy items.
On the education agenda the superintendent asked the board to affirm HIB determinations (listed as item 10.1) and to approve travel-related expenses, curriculum approvals, stipend revisions and concurrent-enrollment courses. During discussion a board member pointed out that one requested trip is to Waco, Texas; the member said the distance had been noted but did not state a block. The motion passed overall, but the transcript records at least one board member voting no on the staff travel to Texas and at least one abstention on a separate item (10.3). The transcript does not give a full named roll-call mapping for each vote.
The board approved a large human-resources consent bundle (items 11.1–11.19) that included retirements and resignations, appointments, revised contracts for 2024–25, changes in bus driver and bus aide hours, leaves of absence, mentor approvals, student-teaching placements, extra coverage and athletic fee schedules.
Operations item 12.1 (monthly financial statements, line-item transfers, an agreement with the Educational Services Commission of New Jersey, disposal of obsolete equipment, acceptance of a donation, a settlement agreement and out-of-district placements) was approved by roll call.
The board also approved second readings of grouped policies and bylaws reviewed by committee (items 13.1–13.4) by voice vote.
The meeting included two standard public-comment opportunities; no members of the public spoke during the recorded public-comment periods.
