Allendale council votes to introduce 2025 municipal budget; staff cites $750,000 community‑center grant

The Allendale Mayor and Council voted on March 27 to introduce the borough’s 2025 municipal budget when Council moved Resolution 25‑113 for introduction and approved it by roll call.

Allison, the borough’s finance lead, summarized the budget in staff reports, saying the overall tax rate is estimated to fall by 3.4% while the municipal portion shows a small increase of roughly 0.54%, which she said equates to about $22 for the average home. She attributed improved revenue partly to municipal ownership of a cell tower (citing a more than 50% increase in related revenue), municipal port fees and sewer revenue, and funds set aside from litigation (referred to in the transcript as PK litigation) that will be applied to the capital fund.

Allison also announced the borough received $750,000 in grant funds to apply toward the community center project after more than a year of application work. Officials said that funding will reduce future capital requirements and assist capital planning for 2026.
