Board approves multiple expulsions, stays placements so students continue at Lincoln School

During the student-discipline portion of the agenda, Mr. Dan Coffey moved that Student C252603 be expelled from all District 204 programs until January 2027; the board then stayed the expulsion so the student may attend Lincoln School and be eligible to reenroll in January 2027. The motion was seconded by Mr. Matthew Kennedy and carried on a roll-call vote with all trustees recorded as voting aye.
Mr. Coffey made similar motions, each seconded by Mr. Kennedy, to expel and then stay expulsions for additional students with the following outcomes as recorded in the minutes:
- Student W252604: expelled until June 2027; stayed with placement at Lincoln School; reenrollment eligible June 2027. - Student W252605: expelled until January 2027; stayed with placement at Lincoln School; reenrollment eligible January 2027. - Student C252606: expelled until June 2027; stayed with placement at Lincoln School; reenrollment eligible June 2027. - Student C252607: expelled until June 2027; stayed with placement at Lincoln School; reenrollment eligible June 2027. - Student W252608S: expelled until June 2027 with placement to be determined by the student’s IEP team; reenrollment eligible June 2027. - Student C252609: expelled until June 2027; stayed with placement at Lincoln School; reenrollment eligible June 2027.
Each of those motions carried on roll-call votes with all present trustees voting aye as recorded in the meeting minutes. The board’s recorded procedure follows the district’s practice of deliberating discipline in executive session, then returning to open session to take formal vote on expulsions.
