Dr. Phillip Pakowski told the Minooka Community High School District 111 board at its Nov. 19 meeting that the Illinois School Report Card rates Minooka Community High School as “Commendable” with an overall index score of 88.90. He said the district’s strengths include graduation rate, ninth‑grade on‑track, CTE graduation rate and proficiency gains in math and English language arts.
Pakowski identified chronic absenteeism, lower science proficiency and a low climate‑survey participation rate as the principal areas for growth and described next steps the district will take, including emphasizing the climate survey with staff and analyzing feeder‑school absenteeism patterns to find common causes and interventions. "We will present the report card to staff and reiterate how important the climate survey is," he said.
Superintendent Dr. Rob Schiffbauer noted recent community engagement activities that support those priorities, including a Coffee and Connection event and a Veteran’s Day assembly that drew about 160 attendees. Schiffbauer and Pakowski framed the report card as a baseline for targeted improvement rather than an endpoint.
The board did not take formal action on the report card at the meeting; members discussed the items Pakowski raised and asked staff to pursue deeper analysis of absenteeism across feeder schools and to increase outreach for climate survey participation. The district plans to communicate results and next steps to staff and stakeholders in the coming months.
