Commissioners approve routine claims, policies and several appropriation requests; move early voting to Government Center

The Harrison County Commissioners conducted routine business and several administrative actions during their July 7 meeting in Corydon.
Claims and payroll: Commissioners voted 3-0 to approve all regular claims and to approve payroll and prepaid vouchers. The board also handled flagged claims: conditional approval of payment to vendor Bennett & Bennett Insurance for $546,279.20 pending a departmentalized breakdown provided to the auditor’s office; disallowance of a $1,503.50 claim from Modilite Systems due to insufficient funding in the account (the department will submit a corrected claim); and conditional approval of $99.00 to Reach Media Network once funding is in place.
Personnel and minutes: Commissioners approved a personnel change — Vernon Gehlbach’s move to District 1 foreman effective July 8, 2025 — and approved leave without pay requests for Mike Dunaway and Mark Mauck. The board also approved the June 16, 2025 meeting minutes.
Auditor and maintenance requests: Auditor Sara Burdick presented multiple appropriation requests that the commissioners forwarded to the county council, including $47,370 for a replacement maintenance truck (hail total replacement), $17,249.40 to Eaton to replace UPS server-backup battery components, $6,877.20 for riverboat infrastructure and $176,842.29 for revenue sharing; all were forwarded to the county council for review.
Policy and procurement: Commissioners approved an abuse & molestation policy drafted at the request of the county’s liability insurance carrier. They also approved a credit application with Jacobi Oil Service, Inc., and authorized Commissioner Stepro to sign it.
Elections: The board approved moving early voting to the Harrison County Government Center.
Adjournment: Commissioners voted 3-0 to adjourn the meeting at 7:35 p.m.
