Cresco City Council unanimously approves consent agenda and three resolutions; sets April 6 hearing on urban revitalization plan

Administration told the council that tax-abatement requests will now come before the body as resolutions rather than through the consent agenda. "So what this is is with the, tax abatements, they are supposed to be approved by resolution," the administration staff member said, explaining the procedural change and that preliminary approvals will be transmitted to the Howard County assessor.
The consent agenda approved by the council included approval of the agenda and claims, minutes from March 2, 2026, flag requests for Crestwood High School graduation and community events, and a cigarette/tobacco permit for Big Daddy Hideaway Court dba Sweeney's Lounge. A motion to approve the consent agenda was moved and seconded and passed on a roll-call vote with all members recorded in the affirmative.
On item-specific votes: the council unanimously approved a resolution providing preliminary approval of a property tax-exemption application submitted by Stoltz LLC and recognizing the project area as part of an urban revitalization zone for transmittal to the Howard County assessor. The council also unanimously adopted a resolution authorizing the mayor to designate the agent of record for the city's Aflac policies; administration said the city will continue to work with the same providers.
Finally, the council passed a resolution determining the necessity of, and fixing a date for, a public hearing on a proposed 2026 amended and restated urban revitalization plan; the hearing was set for April 6 at 5:30 p.m.
The chair closed the meeting after recording unanimous votes on the items and said, "I show that concludes our agenda." The council adjourned with no further action scheduled at that meeting.
