Commission recommends rezoning of former Danelle’s restaurant site to B-1 to allow reopening as a restaurant

The planning commission voted to recommend rezoning 228 East Washington Street (the former Danelle's site) from M-1 General Manufacturing District to B-1 Regional Business District, clearing the way for the property to resume restaurant operations and other permitted B-1 uses.
Staff said the rezoning is consistent with the village comprehensive plan and with the property’s historic use as a restaurant; the applicant did not offer additional public testimony and no residents spoke during the hearing on the change. ‘‘The proposed rezoning is consistent with the comprehensive plan, as well as the current and long time use of this property as a restaurant,’’ a planner told commissioners.
Commissioners accepted staff’s findings of fact and voted by roll call to recommend approval; the recommendation will proceed to the village board for final action.
