CSEA announces job‑shadowing partnership; teachers raise camera privacy concerns

Thomas Kosowski, the district's public information officer, read a letter on behalf of Frank Hernandez, president of CSEA Chapter 351, announcing a partnership between CSEA and Beaumont High School to launch a job‑shadowing and work‑experience program for students with disabilities. The letter thanked participating site staff and listed classified positions that will host students, including grounds, custodial, front office, health office and the business office.
"We are thrilled to share that we have partnered with Beaumont High School to launch the job shadowing and experience program," Kosowski read, crediting Frank Hernandez and chapter leadership.
Chase Moore, speaking for the Beaumont Teachers Association, thanked district staff for professional development and singled out the district's security camera system for discussion, saying staff had "questions ... about cameras being put in at the different sites and what they showed and what they didn't show" and praising the professionalism of the staff member who answered those questions. Moore also thanked the cabinet for listening to staff concerns and noted upcoming contract negotiations and special education proposals.
The board received these reports; representatives thanked staff and encouraged community participation in upcoming events. Both associations expressed appreciation for coordination with district staff on professional development and student programs.
Next steps: The district and CSEA will implement the job shadowing program with site staff; the teachers association said bargaining sessions are scheduled and will address outstanding proposals.
