Beaumont Unified names Ken Mueller director of maintenance, operations and transportation

The Beaumont Unified School District board on Oct. 22 announced the appointment of Ken Mueller as the district's director of maintenance, operations and transportation. Trustees approved the appointment in closed session by a unanimous vote, with David Sanchez moving the appointment and Sean Mitchell seconding it.

The appointment was reported out to the public by Jeff Brown, who said the motion to appoint Mueller passed unanimously and that the effective date will be determined. A district cabinet member then read Mueller's background, listing prior work at Colby Technologies, Azusa Pacific University, University of California Riverside and Riverside Unified School District and noting that Mueller earned a bachelor of arts in business administration from Point Loma Nazarene University.

Mueller addressed the board and thanked trustees and staff. "It's an exciting opportunity for me, to be a part of a tight knit community and to become a part of the Beaumont family," he said, adding that he looks forward to working with maintenance, operations and transportation staff.

Board members and district administrators welcomed Mueller and asked the community to join them in recognizing his hire. The board did not announce an effective start date in open session.

The appointment follows a closed‑session personnel discussion earlier in the meeting; the board's formal report of actions in closed session listed the appointment and the unanimous vote in favor. The district presented Mueller's résumé and educational background during the public portion of the meeting.

Next steps: the district will announce an effective start date and any transitional details when they are finalized.
