Supervisor Jason Roudabush presented applications to the South Central Iowa Solid Waste recycling grant program. After review, the board approved all submitted applications and authorized Chairman Roudabush to notify South Central Iowa Solid Waste for disbursement. Approved applications and award amounts recorded in the minutes: City of Montezuma — $2,000 (purchase of three round trash receptacles with dome lids); City of Deep River — $600 (city-wide cleanup day); City of Grinnell — $1,300 (roadside cleanup); City of Brooklyn — $2,500 (city-wide cleanup day); Montezuma Community Development — $1,000 (Montezuma Pride Day). The motion to approve the applications was moved by Bolen, seconded by Tindle, and passed 3-0.
The board held a discussion with representatives of the Poweshiek County Sportsman Association and Grinnell Sure Shots about a draft license agreement that would permit the Sportsman Association to use a portion of county property near the Malcom Township landfill for a shooting range. Steve Glassgow of the Poweshiek County Sportsman Association and Seth and Kami Holmes of Grinnell Sure Shots provided feedback on the draft agreement. The board instructed that the County Attorney make revisions to the draft and tabled further consideration to a future meeting; no final approval or vote on the license agreement occurred.
Supervisor Bolen noted she had a Region 6 meeting scheduled that day and a county safety committee meeting on Wednesday. At 10:01 a.m., Supervisor Tindle moved and Bolen seconded to adjourn; the motion carried 3-0.
