Commission recommends approval of six-site RV campground on Miller Road

The Lincoln County Planning Commission on March 10 recommended approval of a conditional-use permit for a small-scale RV campground at 10960 Miller Road.
County Planner Judy Clark presented File No. CU26-002, describing a proposal by Neil and Cassie Sundstrom for six RV sites with electrical hookups only. Clark said the project would be electric-only with no water or sewer connections and that guests would be required to use fully contained RVs; planning staff raised trash removal/containment as an item for the commission to consider and otherwise had no objections.
Mrs. Sundstrom said the operators will provide trash service: "We have two Schaben dumpsters and one would be within about 100' from the campers," and added they plan to target short-term stays, possibly including people traveling with horses. The Sundstroms said they will use gravel pads initially and hope to install concrete pads later.
Commissioner Russ Miller asked whether a future expansion could proceed without returning to the commission. Deputy County Attorney Tyler Volkmer advised the commission to consider only the application before them and said that any expansion would require a new application and resubmittal. After public testimony, commissioners closed the hearing. Friesen moved and Edwards seconded the motion recommending approval; roll call recorded eight ayes and no nays and the motion carried.
The commission’s recommendation cites conformity with Lincoln County zoning and subdivision regulations and the county comprehensive plan; the action sends a recommendation to the county governing body and requires the applicants to comply with all elements of their application and applicable county requirements before operating.
