Manhattan Beach City Council approves agenda, recesses to closed session on litigation; no action reported
Summary
The Manhattan Beach City Council approved its agenda 5-0 and recessed to a closed session to discuss litigation under Gov. Code §54956.9(d)(1). The council later reconvened and the city attorney said a status report was received and no action was taken.
The Mayor called the Manhattan Beach City Council’s adjourned regular meeting to order on Tuesday, Sept. 2 and led the Pledge of Allegiance.
The council approved the meeting agenda on a motion by Council member Haworth, seconded by Council member Tarney. The motion passed by a 5-0 vote.
The Mayor then moved the council into a closed session to discuss pending litigation. The City Attorney announced the closed session was held pursuant to Government Code §54956.9(d)(1) to consider the litigation identified on the agenda.
After the closed session the council reconvened in open session. The City Attorney reported, “The city council received a status report. There was no action taken.” The meeting then proceeded to the next items on the agenda.
No members of the public spoke during the public comment period; the Mayor noted there were no in-person speakers and no requests from Zoom.
