Planning staff told the Auburn Planning Board on Oct. 14 that the Chick‑fil‑A applicant addressed a prior condition of approval by providing a pedestrian connection to Turner Street and revising the site layout.
Staff said the building is slightly larger by a couple of hundred square feet and includes two additional seats, but the redesign increased stacking distance for vehicles, adjusted parking layout and narrowed a drive aisle that had been operating as a free‑for‑all. Staff also said the site will have about 4,200 square feet less impervious area, improving stormwater performance.
Joey Fonseca of Bollard, the applicant representative, summarized the pedestrian accommodations: retaining the existing Turner Street landing, adding an ADA path with 1:12 slopes, handrails and level landings, a crosswalk into the site and a concrete sidewalk to the front door. Fonseca said those changes allow Chick‑fil‑A to maintain its prototypical operational layout while improving pedestrian access and calming internal vehicular movement.
The planning board had no further questions and treated the update as informational; no formal board action was required.
