Auburn council approves liquor license, temporary police office, ethics panel appointment; adopts resolve opposing county budget increase

After the workshop on syringe service programs the Auburn City Council handled routine business and a handful of votes.
The council approved a consent agenda appointment of Tara Paradis to the ethics panel (motion moved by Councilor Walker; vote by show of hands, 7‑0). The minutes of Oct. 20, 2025 were approved by unanimous voice/show‑of‑hands vote.
In new business the council granted an on‑premise liquor license to Golden Cross Auburn LLC d/b/a Auto Pizza at 730 Center Street after a public hearing in which Brian Conlon, the applicant, said he planned to reopen the Auburn location. The motion passed 7‑0.
Council also approved a temporary needs and impact analysis for 95 Main Street, 4th Floor, authorizing use as a limited public‑safety facility for the Auburn Police Department Criminal Investigations Office while Auburn Hall is refurbished; the motion carried 6‑1.
Finally, the council suspended the rules to add and adopt a late resolve opposing a proposed 13.15% increase in the Androscoggin County 2026 budget. Council members debated the increase and urged residents to attend the county public hearing; the resolve passed 7‑0 and the city manager was asked to present the council’s adopted resolve at the county hearing on Nov. 5.
