Auburn staff reports 1,770 engagement inputs; committee completes visioning workshop

Staff told the Auburn Comprehensive Planning Committee on Aug. 26 that the comprehensive-plan engagement process had generated about 1,770 inputs across multiple outreach channels, and the committee then conducted a visioning workshop in four breakout groups.
"Sitting around 1,770 inputs into the project so far," staff member Allie reported, noting the total included responses from social Pinpoint, school surveys, focus groups, open houses and outreach activities including National Night Out and a backpack drive. The committee discussed a "meeting in a box" approach and asked members to complete any remaining exercises by mid-September if possible.
The chair described two workshop activities: (1) identifying community values and priorities and (2) drafting a vision for what will define Auburn and what it will feel like in 10 years. Staff provided sticky notes, chart paper and timekeeping; group members were to brainstorm individually, then cluster common themes and produce a few draft vision statements. Staff will compile the group work and present draft vision statements for committee review before the September meeting.
Procedural items: the committee approved the July 22 minutes earlier in the evening and adjourned after the workshop.
