Brianna Holloway announced she is running for Knox County School Board District 1 and asked for voters’ support, saying, “I am running for Knox County School Board district 1 … I would love to be your next school board rep.”
Holloway emphasized long-standing local ties, saying she began her education in District 1 at Sarah Moore Green Elementary School and is a third-generation Austin-East graduate. She said she earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Tennessee and added that she was “born, raised, and educated” in the district.
Holloway framed family experience as part of her qualifications, saying she is a mother of five: her two oldest children graduated from District 1 schools, and her three younger children currently attend schools in the district. “Everything that happens within Knox County Schools has a direct effect on my household,” she said.
She outlined professional and volunteer experience she said would inform her service on the board, describing “over 20 years of government, nonprofit, entrepreneurial, volunteer, and customer service experience,” and noting past work “for the city and the state.” She said her volunteer roles include membership in the UT Black Alumni Council, appointment as a sixth-district neighborhood advisory council representative, and service on the Mater Elementary School Steering Committee.
Holloway said she would bring her advocacy, leadership and lived experience to the seat to “bring change for the better for our schools,” and added, “Our schools, teachers, staff, and communities deserve the best, and I will do everything I absolutely can to make sure that I bring that to fruition.” She closed with a campaign sign-off, saying, “Brianna for the board.”
No formal motions, votes or references to specific board business appear in the transcript; the remarks are a candidate introduction made during a public comment opportunity.
