The Campton Hills Planning and Zoning Commission discussed proposed text amendments to the zoning ordinance on April 8 and agreed to post draft language and hold a public hearing on May 13.
Staff said the proposed edits aim to clarify what is included in a preliminary PUD application (for example: landscape and photometric plans, engineering and the plat) and to make the ordinance language easier for applicants and the public to understand. Commissioners asked to see the draft text in advance; staff said the text is a single chapter/section and offered to circulate it two weeks before the scheduled hearing.
Commission members agreed to post the proposed amendments and hold an initial public hearing on May 13 (the commission’s regular meeting date), with the option to continue the hearing in June if additional review is needed. The commission emphasized the goal is clarity rather than substantive procedural change and will forward any recommendation to the village board after the public hearing.
