Maywood trustees direct counsel to draft simple census ordinance, discuss committee and festival finance

The board agreed by consensus to direct counsel to prepare that ordinance for a future meeting. Manager Willie Norfleet identified David Myers as the internal contact for the village’s Complete Count Committee; Booker said he had not been aware of committee meetings.
Booker also recommended moving items on community engagement spending and learning and development line items to the Finance Committee for further review. Finance Director Lanya Satchell told trustees there was $1,000 available under the training and seminar line for registration fees for five trustees and the mayor for attendance at conferences such as the National League of Cities meeting.
No formal votes were taken on these old-business items beyond the direction to draft the census ordinance and the decision to move certain budget items to committee review.
