Commissioners approve mobility‑fee deal, land conveyance and RFP for new equestrian facility

Hillsborough County commissioners on Dec. 17 approved a mobility fee alternative satisfaction agreement and a related land conveyance, and authorized staff to advertise an RFP to develop a new equestrian facility at the Northwest Equestrian Park.
Demorris said the mobility fee agreement includes intersection improvements such as the realignment of Old Big Bend Road and extension of Simmons Road from Big Bend Road to the newly aligned Old Big Bend Road to improve traffic flow and safety. The land conveyance agreement compensates the parks system for converting a portion of parks property to right of way and provides the county with replacement land for park use to preserve recreational access.
The board also authorized a request for proposals for construction of a new equestrian facility at the county‑owned Northwest Equestrian Park on South Mobley Road, proposing a facility comparable to the existing Bachus Equestrian Center in exchange for conveyance of the Bachus property. The RFP is intended to expand access to trails and public programming.
The recap did not include vote tallies or a construction schedule for the equestrian facility; staff were directed to proceed with advertising the RFP and to bring detailed project proposals and agreements back to the board for approval.
