Adelanto announces multiple grants and reimbursements for streets, parks and lighting upgrades

Adelanto city staff told the council on Nov. 13 that the city has secured several grants and reimbursements to support street repairs, park construction and energy upgrades.
“County Of San Bernardino has awarded the city half $1,000,000, $500,000 for the design and construction of a new neighborhood paving project on Dennis Street,” the city manager said, adding the project’s completion is anticipated in the first quarter of 2025.
The manager also said the Department of Energy approved a $76,000 grant to convert existing parking-lot light poles to solar at City Hall and Richardson Park. “This will not only improve sustainability, but also reduce our city's energy cost,” he said.
On transportation funding, staff reported Adelanto received a first reimbursement from the San Bernardino County Transportation Authority (SBCTA) for the Bartlett Avenue rehabilitation project in the amount of $1,200,000; staff said another disbursement is expected shortly.
Nut graf: The combination of county funding, state/federal grants and transportation reimbursements will pay for neighborhood paving, park development and energy-efficiency upgrades without drawing on the city's general fund for the full project costs, according to staff remarks.
The city also said phase 1 of the new Bellflower Park is underway with groundbreaking anticipated in Q1 2025. Officials did not provide a complete project budget breakdown at the Nov. 13 meeting; staff said more detailed schedules and procurement notices will be published as projects move into design and construction.
