The Livingston Union School District Board of Trustees voted unanimously on March 12, 2026 to approve several district actions including declaring a district parcel exempt surplus land with intent to sell to the City of Livingston, approving an intent to grant a public utility easement to Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) and scheduling the required public hearing, certifying a positive second interim financial report, and approving the 2026 Summer Learning Program.
The board adopted Resolution No. 18 regarding District property identified as APN 022-010-007, declaring it exempt surplus land and authorizing the Superintendent or designee to complete actions necessary to finalize conveyance to the City of Livingston for construction of a paved roadway and related street improvements. The board found the transaction exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). The motion to adopt Resolution No. 18 passed by a 5-0 vote.
The board also adopted Resolution No. 19 declaring its intent to grant a public utility easement to PG&E, allowing overhead electrical facilities across a portion of district-owned property, and scheduled a public hearing for April 9, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. to solicit required input. That motion passed 5-0.
On district finances, Fiscal Director Sara Crawley presented the Second Interim Financial Report for 2025–26. Trustee Yolanda Correia moved, seconded by Trustee Monica Cuevas-Avila, to approve a positive certification that the district will meet its financial obligations for the current fiscal year and the subsequent two fiscal years; the motion carried 5-0.
The board approved the district’s 2026 Summer Learning Program, presented by Associate Principals Alicia Villa and Sarah Helton, scheduled to run June 5 through July 2, with concluding Olympic Games activities July 6–10. The motion to approve the summer program passed 5-0.
Other actions taken as part of the consent agenda included approval of personnel items listed in Attachment A (hires, resignations, leaves), approval of meeting minutes and purchase orders, acceptance of a $375.56 donation from Shutterfly, LLC to the Walnut Child Development Center, designation of site supervisors for child development centers to meet Community Care Licensing requirements, deletion of BP/AR 5145.13 and replacement with BP/AR 1445, adoption of Resolution No. 20 in support of César Chávez Day, and approval of revisions to BP/AR 5125 (Student Records). All motions recorded in the minutes carried on unanimous 5-0 votes.
Board President Rigo Espinoza opened public comment periods on Livingston Elementary Teachers Association (LETA) proposals and the District’s initial proposal for 2026–27 negotiations; no public comments were received. Parents did raise unrelated concerns about lawn mowing during school hours earlier in the meeting. The board adjourned at 7:21 p.m.
