Prince George's County Council introduces multiple bills, approves correspondence and moves to executive session

The council unanimously authorized the chair to sign letters transmitting the council's positions to the county's state legislative delegation and to Delegate Janelle Wilkins (House Economic Matters). Motions to authorize the chair's signature were moved and seconded (one motion recorded as moved by Council member Burrows and seconded by Adams and Ivy) and passed by roll-call votes recorded as unanimous.
Council members introduced and referred several bills: CB11-20-26 on collection of fines and charges related to real property; CB12-20-26 addressing motor-vehicle takeover events and unlawful speed contests; CB13-20-26 establishing a street-vending pilot program; and multiple childcare-related measures (CB14-CB16, CB18) concerning childcare expansion, facilities financing, and consumer-contract protections. The Health & Human Services Public Safety Committee reported CB2 (missing-persons bill) out favorably 3-0 as amended; CB2 would prohibit a mandatory waiting period before taking a missing-person report and require public-facing notice that no waiting period is imposed.
The council adopted the consent agenda (including recently added bills) by unanimous roll call and later voted, also unanimously, to convene an executive session pursuant to "section 3-305 of the General Provisions Article of the Code of Maryland" to discuss personnel actions and potential or pending litigation related to the county integrity and compliance officer. No substantive votes on the introduced bills occurred in open session; next steps are committee hearings and scheduled dates noted in committee reports.
