The Zion Elementary School District 6 Board of Education on Aug. 11 approved multiple personnel actions included in the meeting packet: a list of resignations, a set of hires for the 2025–2026 school year, placement adjustments and leaves, administrator employment contracts, a student abatement referral and a resolution to dismiss three educational support employees.
Resignations: The consent materials documented resignations for 18 employees across district schools with effective dates provided in the packet. Those names and effective dates were presented as part of the consent agenda.
Hires and appointments: The board approved 16 named appointments and hires for the 2025–2026 school year. Several hires include certified step and salary information in the packet (for example, Aaron Cohn listed at MA, Step 15, $66,879.08; Myra Flores as Senior Technology Support Specialist Tier III at $75,000.00; Rosa Munoz as Bookkeeper/Business Office Administrative Assistant at $60,000.00). These employment approvals were contingent on completion of required medical, background and registry checks stated in the superintendent’s recommendation.
Leaves and adjustments: The board recorded an unpaid partial leave request for Health Aide Esmeralda Moreno from Aug. 18 through Dec. 12, 2025, and approved a salary/lane adjustment for Social Worker Kaitlyn Griffin effective for 2025–2026.
Administrator contracts: The board approved contracts for Latoya Barnes (assistant principal), Ryan Hawkins (Director of Special Education) and William Stanton (principal) for the 2025–2026 school year. That motion was made by Jazmine Crump and seconded by Netya Perez Rivera; the roll call vote was unanimous.
Student discipline and dismissal actions: The board approved an expulsion-in-abatement referral for Student 21959 to the Regional Safe School Program of Lake County for one semester beginning in 2025–2026 instead of expulsion (motion by Robert Surano, seconded by Denise Lear). Separately, the board approved a resolution to dismiss three educational support personnel — Davion Johnson, Devyn Stockstill and Khanaya Story — effective immediately (motion by Denise Lear, seconded by Ken Fielding). All votes were recorded as ayes with no nays.
The personnel motions were processed in open session and recorded in the official roll-call minutes. Several items reference required preconditions for employment (medical, criminal-background and Child Abuse Registry checks) and the packet includes step/salary information for specific hires.
