Commission plans 'parks passport' and booth for May 13 Public Works open house

"The goal is for us to go live on 05/13 at the open house," David (Speaker 5) said, summarizing the commission’s plan to staff the event with a table, handouts and a summer parks engagement activity such as a parks passport or photo-submission contest. Staff (Marty) said the Public Works open house runs about 5–7 p.m. and offered to prepare printouts, posters and a larger illustration of Diamond Lake Diamonds for the meeting and booth materials.
Options discussed included a parks passport with stamps or a photo-submission system where participants email photos to a parks address when they visit all sites; commissioners floated low-cost prize ideas such as local-business coupons and small prizes for children. The group discussed running the program through the summer—Memorial Day to Labor Day—or ending on Aug. 31 to allow time for recognition at a later meeting.
Staff will prepare printed materials and consider an email-based submission process, goodie bags for children and possible partnerships with local businesses for small prizes. The commission asked staff to bring maps and mockups to the next meeting and to coordinate details ahead of the May 13 open house.
