Commission staff: online permitting system paused after funding cut; supplemental funding sought

Staff for the Columbia River Gorge Commission told the communications committee that the agency's planned online permitting system cannot go live after a phase‑3 funding cut removed the money needed to buy Tyler Tech licenses and complete data migration.
"The new online permitting system will not be live until, we can get some additional funding to pay for the licenses to do that," Christina, a staff member, said. She added that the agency must buy licenses and support ongoing maintenance to operate the system.
Christina said she has been in contact with both governors' offices and legislative fiscal staff and that a window in the January supplemental session could present an opportunity to request some of the funding that was cut. Budgets will be due again in September for any supplemental requests, she said.
The committee did not take a formal vote on the funding issue during this meeting. Staff said they will continue outreach to legislative offices and report back to the full commission as funding opportunities emerge.
