Boonton administrator outlines water-meter rollout, paving, sewer work; council introduces 2025 salary ordinance

Henry reported that Rieland Avenue's milling and paving are under way and the road is closed from the Montville border to Lathrop Avenue through Friday with work hours of 6:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. He also noted some 2025 capital projects have begun. The council asked administrative and committee chairs to ensure required advertisements and notices are published for any ordinance or temporary stays that affect residents.
In new business, the council introduced Ordinance 11-25 (title only), 'An ordinance of the Town of Boonton fixing the salaries and wages of certain officers and employees of the Town of Boonton, County of Morris, State of New Jersey for the year 2025.' The motion to introduce the ordinance passed on a roll-call vote with members present recorded as voting "yes." No public hearing or final adoption occurred at this meeting.
Why it matters: The meter-replacement and paving schedules affect traffic, driveway access and neighborhood schedules; the Rosso Street change order may affect the town's capital accounting and will be reviewed at the next meeting.
