Morris — The Morris City Council approved the consent agenda and several individual items, including a small donation to the fire department and a liquor-license transfer for the Hudson Inn.
During the consent agenda, council approved the audit of city bills, Morris Public Library Board minutes from March 11, 2026, and Morris Tree Board minutes from Feb. 18, 2026. Council members asked questions about a $30,500 line item tied to tree-services work under an existing grant and confirmed that much of that work had already been completed.
The council accepted a $100 donation from Central Specialties to the Morris Fire Department. Council discussion did not identify any earmarks for the donation; staff noted it was appreciated.
The council also approved a liquor-license transfer for the remainder of 2026 for the Hudson Inn (applicant/transferee noted as Morris Hospitality Inc in the record). Council members praised Dan Hudson for renovating the previously distressed property and discussed the business’ lodging-tax performance (the transcript reported lodging-tax receipts for the last quarter of about $12,000 citywide, $7,500 for the Hudson Inn). Staff reminded the council that the state of Minnesota reviews liquor-license applications and that binding insurance must be verified before issuance.
A consumption-and-display permit renewal for Bumper Sports Simulator Entertainment was also approved; the council asked staff to confirm binding insurance before a license is finalized.
What happens next: Staff will complete any outstanding application requirements (including insurance verification) and process the transfers and renewals as required by state law.
