The Chair addressed recent social-media claims that the county was selling nine motor graders and four dump trucks, calling those posts inaccurate. “When you guys see this kind of stuff, realize that it’s not until you get it from the horse’s mouth,” the Chair said, urging the public to wait for official announcements and explaining that the county uses public-surplus platforms open to national bidders. He stressed that nothing is final until the Board votes and that departments bring lists to the Board for approval before items are listed publicly.
Staff said the planned surplus process is intended to clear yard space and remove equipment that is not being used; they emphasized core maintainers are not being sold at this time. The Board will consider specific surplus items at a future public meeting and any subsequent auction listings will be accompanied by standard sale terms and procedures.
What happens next: staff will bring formal surplus listings to the Board for approval and post items on public-surplus platforms only after the Board’s vote.
