Commission rescinds county personnel firearms restriction after new state law, county attorney says

The Laramie County Board approved a resolution to rescind a personnel regulation that had prohibited employees from carrying firearms at work, after the county attorney said a new state statute effectively preempts the county rule.
Mark Voss of the Laramie County Attorney's Office said the statute passed by the Wyoming Legislature removes the legal basis for the county's prior prohibition and that the county's personnel handbook will be updated accordingly. Commissioners confirmed the county had recently adopted a concealed‑carry policy for employees, and that the rescission replaces that policy in the handbook where appropriate.
The motion passed on roll call; Commissioners Heath, Hollingshead, Thompson, Zwonitzer and Chairman Malm voted aye.
Ending: Human Resources and the county attorney will update the handbook and communicate changes to county staff.
