Cleburne County Quorum Court approves fire-equipment grant application and amends 2025 budget

The Cleburne County Quorum Court unanimously adopted a resolution authorizing County Judge Eric Crosby to apply for a grant on behalf of the PRIM Fire Department to purchase fire equipment (Resolution 2025-04). JP Henegar introduced the resolution and JP Evans seconded; a roll call vote recorded ayes from Baugh, Beavers, Evans, Fletcher, Foust, Henegar, Malone, Martin, McClung and Tamburo, with Moorehead absent.
The court also voted unanimously to recognize the Arkansas 250 Commission as it begins work commemorating Arkansas’s 250th year (Resolution 2025-05). JP Foust introduced that resolution and JP Malone seconded; roll call showed the same ayes and no nays.
On fiscal matters, the court passed an ordinance amending the 2025 budget (Ordinance 2025-14). JP Evans introduced the appropriation ordinance amending Ordinance 2024-42, noting a clerical correction so the County Road budget change is recorded as zero; JP Malone seconded and the ordinance passed on a unanimous roll call vote.
Committee reports noted ongoing discussion of jail funding and a continuing review of a jail-related contract. JP Evans said the Jail Committee would meet again on Monday, June 16, to continue negotiations and risk assessment.
The actions taken are procedural steps: the grant resolution authorizes the county judge to apply for funding; it does not itself obligate county funds until and unless a grant is awarded and accepted. The budget amendment updates appropriations already enacted; specific line-item changes were not detailed in the meeting minutes.
The court set its next regular meeting for July 10, 2025. The meeting was attested by Sherry Logan, Cleburne County Clerk, with Kim Wallace signing on her behalf.
