Cleburne County Quorum Court adopts ordinance to amend 2025 budget for law-enforcement grant

The Cleburne County Quorum Court on Aug. 14 adopted an appropriation ordinance to amend the county’s 2025 budget so the county can receive and appropriate a law-enforcement grant.
JP Malone introduced the ordinance, reading its enacting language into the record: "BE IT ENACTED BY THE QUORUM COURT OF CLEBURNE COUNTY, STATE OF ARKANSAS, AN ORDINANCE TO BE ENTITLED: AN APPROPRIATION ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 2024-42 WHICH ADOPTED THE BUDGET FOR THE CALENDAR YEAR 2025 AND/OR OTHER PURPOSES." Malone moved to adopt the ordinance; JP Martin seconded.
The court approved the measure by roll-call vote. The minutes record the ayes as Baugh, Beavers, Evans, Fletcher, Henegar, Malone, Martin, Moorehead and Tamburo; there were no nays. JPs Foust and McClung were recorded absent. The ordinance was filed as Ordinance 2025-15.
At the same meeting the court handled routine business: JP Evans moved to approve the July 10, 2025 regular meeting minutes (seconded by JP Fletcher) and the minutes were approved by voice vote. JP Martin moved to accept the Treasurer’s report (seconded by JP Henegar); that motion also carried by voice vote.
County Attorney Daniel Haney provided a brief legal update to the court, reporting that after oral argument in May the Arkansas Supreme Court requested supplemental briefing on a timing issue; the Court remains out of session until the week of September, Haney said.
The court concluded with announcements and adjournment; JP Martin moved to adjourn, JP Moorehead seconded, and the meeting ended at 6:42 p.m.
