Sevier County commissioners approve routine items, award Piute water bid and set March 23 hearing

At their March 9 meeting in Richfield, Sevier County commissioners approved routine minutes and payment reports, awarded a 5-share Piute Reservoir water bid to Levi Hendrickson at $52 per acre-foot, approved an indigent burial payment of $1,100, authorized grant signature changes, declared surplus property, approved a workforce internship agreement, and set a March 23 public hearing on Class D roads.
Sevier County commissioners met on March 9 in Richfield and approved a slate of routine administrative actions, awarded a water rental bid and scheduled a public hearing on the county transportation map.
The panel unanimously approved the minutes of the February 23 worksession and meeting and approved the Payment Approval Report for February. The commission also accepted the single bid received for five shares of Piute Reservoir and irrigation water (for 2026–2030). The bid from Levi Hendrickson was $52 per acre-foot; Commissioner Ralph Brown moved to accept the bid, Commissioner Greg Jensen seconded, and the motion passed unanimously.
County Attorney Casey Jewkes informed the commission that investigators found Bartt Klinger indigent and recommended county assistance for burial expenses. Commissioners approved a $1,100 indigent burial payment to Magleby Mortruary on a motion by Commissioner Greg Jensen, seconded by Commissioner Ralph Brown; the motion was unanimous.
The commission also approved a modified signature page for an Indigent Defense Grant Agreement after State-level staffing changes altered grant management, declared a list of unused county personal property as surplus and authorized disposal, and approved an agreement with the Utah Department of Workforce Services to participate in the Worksite Learning OJT and EIO Employer internship program. Each of these motions passed unanimously with routine motions and seconds.
Events staff presented a Parachute Demonstration Agreement with Skydive Nephi LLC for a flag parachute appearance at the county rodeo; the agreement was not acted on because the Fair Board had not yet reviewed it. The commission asked Events Director Jessica Hutchings to obtain the Fair Board’s recommendation before returning the item.
Commissioners acknowledged receipt of a Payment-in-Lieu-of-Taxes check for $1,410 from the Division of Wildlife and heard that Division staff discussed local rehabilitation work following the Monroe Fire.
Commissioner Scott Johnson announced a public hearing to consider amendments to the Sevier County Transportation System Network Map (Class D roads) to be held at 1:50 p.m. on March 23, 2026, in the Commission Chambers. With no further business, the meeting adjourned at 2:27 p.m.
