The Kewanee City Council voted on July 28 to table Bill 25-70, the resolution to fix the city’s budget for the fiscal year beginning May 1, 2025, and ending April 30, 2026. Councilmember Colomer moved to table the measure; Councilmember Cernovich seconded, and the motion passed 4-0.
Councilmembers said they had just been provided updated budget documents that evening and wanted additional time to review the materials before voting. City Manager Gary Bradley and staff will provide additional information and bring the budget back for further consideration at a future meeting.
By tabling the resolution, the council deferred formal adoption and any immediate changes tied to the new budget. No staff direction or amendments were recorded at the meeting. The council did not set a new date for action during the July 28 session.
