South Barrington board approves ordinances, personnel moves and contracts in routine meeting

The Village of South Barrington Board of Trustees on Aug. 10 approved a slate of ordinances, resolutions and financial items and accepted routine staff reports.
At its meeting Mayor Paula McCombie called the session to order and the board approved minutes from July meetings and two warrant runs totaling $285,665.79. Trustees accepted the Statement of Revenues and Expenditures and the Detailed Balance Sheet as of July 31, 2023.
Trustees adopted an ordinance amending Section 3‑2‑8 (Number of Licenses: License Fees) of the village liquor control code. The board also adopted an ordinance approving an amendment to the final plan for the planned unit development at 100 West Higgins Road and granted a variance from the required rear yard setback for the property at 42 Shenandoah Circle. All roll‑call votes on ordinances recorded five ayes, zero nays and one absence (Dr. Kanu Panchal).
Other approved items included a resolution authorizing execution of a professional services agreement with Administrative Consulting Specialists, LLC for grant writing services and acceptance of an Architectural Control Commission recommendation permitting temporary signage for Spirit Halloween in the former HomeGoods space at The Arboretum of South Barrington.
On procurement and equipment matters the board tabled an ordinance amending O‑2023‑1374 (to waive bid and accept a proposal from Axon Enterprise, Inc., for public safety equipment and related licensing) and approved the disposal of surplus personal property (a radar trailer) from the police department.
The meeting record shows routine committee reports, including a BACOG director’s report and a SWANCC document destruction event scheduled for Sept. 9 at village hall. Village Engineer Natalie Karney updated trustees on parking lot projects and a forthcoming pre‑construction meeting for the village road program.
All formal votes where a roll call is recorded were unanimous among present trustees (Ayes 5, Nays 0, Absent 1). The board adjourned at 8:32 p.m.
