It approved waiving the fee for Billingsley FFA to use the R. H. Kirkpatrick Arena on May 16, 2026 for a barrel race associated with an upcoming state convention in Montgomery.
Personnel actions approved included hiring Chase David Walters as a deputy sheriff (grade PS303: step 4), pending a background and drug test, to replace Timothy Hill; a one-year, one-step pay increase for Codey Cotton (part-time driver, DOH: Feb. 26, 2025) for satisfactory service; hiring Todd Bitondo as Mechanic Apprentice I (grade 2: step 5) pending background/drug test to replace Logan Brooks; and hiring Kalvin Thomas as Mechanic (grade 5: step 9) pending background/drug test to replace David Rawlinson who retired. The commission accepted the resignation of Jonathan Hayden, Engineering Assistant, effective Feb. 23, 2026, and authorized hiring a replacement.
The commission also approved amending budget line item 001-51105-193 by $15,000 due to an insurance reimbursement and approved providing six yards of top soil to Marbury Middle School for its STEM garden after suspending the rules to add the item to the agenda. The meeting adjourned at 6:29 p.m.; the next regular meeting was set for March 17, 2026 at 5:00 p.m.
