The board recognized El Segundo High senior Agrima Butani for winning Congressman Ted Lieu’s Congressional App Challenge; student rep Miss Palka briefed the board on ASB activities, new electives and wellness week events.
El Segundo High School senior Agrima Butani was recognized by the board after winning first place in Congressman Ted Lieu’s Congressional App Challenge.
Miss McCann, presenting the recognition, said the winning app—called Memory Lane—was designed as a memory‑care companion for elderly individuals with Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease, addressing cognitive decline, health management and safety risks. The district said a press release and a video demonstration of the app will be posted after the meeting.
Student representative Miss Palka updated the board on ASB activities: leadership work for upcoming events, new electives (including a business elective), the wellness fair at the middle school with counselors and booths, and upcoming ASB election week following spring break.
Board members congratulated Butani and praised student work showcased in civics day and other district events. The board also noted student recognitions including district awards at regional events and a $50,000 scholarship surprise presentation by Edison for a student.
What’s next: district staff will post the app demonstration link and keep the board informed about student civic projects and upcoming ASB activities.
