The borough sent 187 letters to landlords who had not registered with the rental-inspection program; 60 registrations were received after that mailing, and staff said the office has been busy with walk-ins and calls. The director said staff will post notices of violation on properties that remain unregistered and will escalate to certified mail and door postings if necessary.
Council members asked how tenants would learn about notices and confirmed that tenants can and should inform owners if a notice appears on a rental property. The director said staff plan additional follow-up, including certified letters to remaining delinquents and door-knocking as needed.
