Commissioners approve highway hires, forward small appropriation and award jail renovation bid

During the Jan. 20 meeting, Commissioners Wiseman and Stepro approved several personnel actions in the highway department. The board appointed Nathan Thompson as foreman for District 3, approved Aaron Hoehn as a highway crewman in District 2 effective Jan. 25, 2026, and approved hiring Timothy Patterson and James Phipps as highway crewmen. Commissioners also approved the Jan. 5, 2026 meeting minutes.
County Administrator Chad Shireman asked to allow Commissioner Stepro to sign the annual Harrison County Community Fund request form; the board agreed. The commissioners forwarded an additional appropriation request of $1,231.46 for circuit court equipment repair & maintenance to the county council and ratified Animal Control Director Rustie Timberlake's signature on an annual controlled substance registration renewal.
On facilities contracting, the board voted to award the Harrison County Jail MEP Renovation bid to Parco Constructors Group; the motion carried 2–0. The meeting adjourned at 8:05 p.m.
Next steps: the circuit court appropriation will go to the county council for action; highway hires will be processed by the highway department and effective dates recorded in personnel files.
