Digna Carpio appeared before the City of Redding zoning board seeking variances to convert a circa‑1890 single-family dwelling at 1333 Perkiomen Avenue into three residential units, with one apartment per floor.
Attorney Joan London presented an offer of proof describing the property as roughly 2,730 square feet over three stories with seven bedrooms and 3½ baths; Carpio told the board she purchased the home in February 2025. Architect Mister Herrera (Milan Consulting Group) described proposed plans showing a unit on each level, a shared stairway for upper units, an independent lower‑unit entrance and space for five parking spaces on the lot. The submitted plans would not change the building’s height or footprint, the attorney said.
Herrera said the design would enclose and fire‑rate the central stairwell and create a new corridor leading to an exterior exit to meet egress requirements. The applicant offered supplemental photographs and the board admitted exhibit materials into the record. The board closed the appeal; a written decision will be issued at next month’s meeting and mailed to the applicant.
