Waite Park — The Waite Park City Council appointed Sherry Blonaghan to the city’s vacant records technician position following a recommendation from the police department.
An agency official told the council the department had held the vacancy for just over a year and presented Blonaghan as the “number one overall candidate” after interviews, assessments and a background check. “They come with many years of experience as a paralegal,” the official said.
Council members discussed the position’s pay grade and the duration of the eligibility list. One council member recommended the eligibility list expire on Sept. 30, 2026, roughly six months from the current meeting. The start date for the new hire was left to the candidate’s availability.
A committee member moved to approve the appointment, a council member seconded the motion, and the council adopted it by unanimous voice vote.
The action fills a police-department support role the city said had been left open during a recent transition and building-phase work. The council’s approval included the pay-grade placement discussed at the meeting and the condition that the eligibility list expire on Sept. 30, 2026.
The council did not record a roll-call vote in the transcript; the motion passed on an oral unanimous vote at the meeting.
