Jefferson County adopts succession order for Prosecuting Attorney, will advertise permanent vacancy

Matt Harvey of the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office presented a conditional succession plan for the event of an office vacancy. Commissioner Steve Stolipher moved to adopt the order of appointment as presented; Commissioner Mike Mood seconded, and the motion passed unanimously.
The commission also voted to advertise the Prosecuting Attorney position for two weeks and to schedule special interviews for candidates. That motion was seconded by Commissioner Jack Hefestay and approved unanimously. No further procedural dates were recorded in the minutes.
The actions put in place a temporary appointment process and launched recruitment for a permanent appointee, with the commission to conduct special interviews once the advertising period concludes.
