The Jefferson County Commission on Sept. 4 approved changes to the Emergency Services Agency’s (ESA) employee benefits package that align vision, dental, short-term disability, life insurance and HRA reimbursement with the benefits provided to other county employees. The commission also renewed the ESA health insurance plan and approved employee premium rates commensurate with other county staff.
The actions followed an executive session for legal advice. Commissioner Jack Hefestay moved to enroll the ESA in benefits and renew the current health plan with parity for employee premiums; the motion was seconded by Commissioner Steve Stolipher and approved unanimously. The commission then approved a motion by Commissioner Stolipher, seconded by Commissioner Mike Mood, to take $126,000 from the contingency fund to cover the one-time cost of changing ESA benefits; that motion passed unanimously.
Separately, the commission approved a request to seek a temporary administrative assistant for the Emergency Services Agency at up to $20 per hour for up to three months (motion approved), and approved a $39,000 contract with Reliable Administration for CAD/Motorola Flex support for the 9-1-1 Center and field units.
