Wildwood Crest adopts land-use, sidewalk ordinances; schedules fence-fee hearing

The Borough of Wildwood Crest on the reorganizational meeting adopted two land-use ordinances and set a hearing date for a third.
On a unanimous roll call, the council passed Ordinance 14-42, which the clerk read as “an ordinance of the borough of Wildwood Crest amending and supplementing the land development ordinance of the borough of Wildwood Crest, chapter 85,” updating definitions and area and bulk regulations for low-density residential zones and landscaping standards. The public hearing on 14-42 was opened and, with no members of the public speaking, closed. The roll call recorded Mister Schiff: Yes; Mister Franco: Yes; Mister Cabrera: Yes.
Council also placed Ordinance 14-43 on second and final reading and adopted it. The ordinance amends chapter 63 (sidewalks, curbs and alleyways) to require certain pervious materials between the curb and the outside edge of the sidewalk; the clerk read the ordinance title into the record. A public hearing on 14-43 drew no public comment before the council voted unanimously to adopt it.
The council introduced Ordinance 14-44 on first reading. The clerk read that ordinance as amending section 85-82 (fences and walls) and establishing a fence permit fee; the body moved to pass it on first reading and scheduled the public hearing and final reading for January 22, 2025, at 5 p.m.
Why it matters: the measures change local land-use and pedestrian-safety standards in areas of Wildwood Crest and update fee authority for fences. The actions take effect after required advertising and any further readings required by law.
Next steps: Ordinance 14-44 will return for public hearing and final consideration on Jan. 22, 2025. Adopted ordinances will be advertised according to law.
